So I signed up for my first Marathon

Well almost, it's a half Marathon, but very excited and have been training hard enough this summer so I know I will be ready when the day comes.

On Daily Mile www.dailymile.com recently I read of a younger woman whom is training for a Marathon, and just today she ran 20 miles. She said it was "tough" but she did it and never thought she could run that far. Then to quote her "All of you saying that you couldn't do 20, I thought that too but somehow I did it. I think you could too".

I have another 2 months to prepare so I will be fine, it just seems so big at first. I did 8 mile run today and that one felt big, but after I felt great and glad I did it.

Much more to come on this ....

Quality time with Dogs today :)

Big mileage today-taking advantage of record cool temps!

Did an easy 6 mile run this morning, and a 14 mile bike ride after. Felt great, wanted more but had to do some chores around the house. Each day I fell a little stronger/healthier....I think I like this daily mileage thing. No endorphin high today...just enjoying the beautiful weather, it was cloudy but did not matter. The wind on half the bike ride was tough but that doesn't seem to mater and more, I just keep pedaling, dealing with a little neck pain but i will find a cure for that.

Endorphin run today - oh what a feeling!!!

I experienced a brief runners high today at about the 3 mile mark in a 4 mile run. I will say it was almost like I was floating....OK any non-runner reading this would say yeah ah ha.

But here is proof it does happen, and for me it is not the first time.

Then I took a little break to play with the dogs and went out for an 8 mile bike ride.

Oh and another thing I read about runners high is there is also a runners low similar to what I experienced a few days ago when I took 4 days off....I felt bad, like I needed to run...a real "low"

I'm back at it....went out for a 4 mile run, had to speed-walk last mile. Felt good to get back out there.
I bought a bike helmet, now I look just like Lance, shades and all. Just need to get one of those fancy rear view mirrors for my helmet. Did a quick 11.8 miles, neck and butt a bit sore, but all in all felt really good.

This feeling is why I do this...you have to experience it before you can believe it's real, just do it!!!

4 day vacation

Takin' 4 days off, it seems that my addiction may have become an obsession. Time for a break...I will come back at it hard, refreshed and ready to meet new challenges.

Did I say that?

Yikes

To "hell and back" revisited

OK today was a very tough 3.17 mile run, I'm feeling the whole time like I am carrying an elephant on my back. It was cooler than usual about 75, but humid....and me and humidity don't get a long to well. I made it through the run chalked it up to being old.....again.

Made some dinner for my wife whom was getting home late. Got on my bike and tried to make up for my bad run....not. I made it 10+ miles but it was windy and getting dark before I could finish what I wanted to accomplish.

But after all is said and done I am glad I got out there and did it and felt good about it later.

Running in the rain

Today was my first experience has a runner, running in the rain. I was dressed in running shorts, trail shoes and a Cloudveil rain jacket which kept me dry through out my 5K run. I have to say I was not sure if I would like it but the run was over before I knew it, I actually left thinking I would run 2 miles, but it felt so good I kept going to 3.2.
